Although it's often skipped by tourists heading towards the more famous "pugliese" city called Lecce, Bari hides some authentic treasures and ancient traditions of the area. 

During the tour, you will see some of the most important sites in town, both from an historic and a cultural point of view. Follow your guide and get to see the Castle of Bari, then stroll through Arco Basso street, where the housewaives still prepare the traditional home-made "orecchiette" (a very typical ear-shaped kind of pasta).

Matera and its districts of ancient cave dwellings, "Sassi", were declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1993 and are now considered one of the main italian attraction.
People have been settling here for a long time: Matera is often cited as one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world.

Full-day 7-hour cooking class in a local Masseria in Mola di Bari with lunch and dinner included: enjoy a real hands-on approach to the original homemade healthy Mediterranean food! On board an elegant van or car, you will reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Matera, the place where the viewpoint of the Sasso Barisano is located which, together with the Sasso Caveoso, constitute the main attraction of Matera. During the walk, you can admire the Cathedral of the Madonna della Bruna, completed in 1270, the Palazzo del Sedile, a Renaissance building, now home to the Duni Conservatory; Madonna dell'Idris and San Giovanni in Monterrone, two churches partly excavated and partly built, the excavation of which dates back to the 11th century. Walking among the Sassi, a Unesco site since 1993, you can admire the landscape of the Gravina di Matera, a canyon created by the slow working of the Gravina stream, and the Murgia Materana Park, where hundreds of rock churches, hermitages and monasteries have found space, subsequently used by shepherds for transhumance. During the tour, we will visit a cave house and the rock church of Santa Lucia alle Malve (11th century).
