Embark on a flavourful grassroots “Foodie Walk”; a discovery of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stone Town through its food history The tour starts off at Forodhani Gardens for a briefing, accompanied with spicy black coffee and sweet bitings (made of peanuts, grated coconut and more) drawing from Zanzibar’s eclectic food heritage.
This tour features a walk through the narrow winding streets of Stone Town, discovering the archipelago’s rich food culture, which has drawn influences from the Portuguese who brought the staple ‘boflo bread’, the Omani/Yemeni who introduced their coffee served at many ‘coffee corners’, the Indians who came with their ‘bhajia & kachori’ from Gujarat, that is now a staple part of the ‘Zanzibar Urojo mix’ and much more. The highlight of the tour is ofcourse in the tasting of the various foods at ‘local joints’; where one learns of Zanzibar’s heritage right in the middle of the buzzing old town.
