5 Day Bilbao and Basque Country

 

Programul activitatii

DAY 1 FRIDAY: Arrival at the airport of Bilbao. Assistance and transfer to the selected hotel in Bilbao.Lodging at the hotel.

DAY 2 SATURDAY: Breakfast. Depart at 09:00h to start a half day excursion to the Basque coast. Trail starts to head along the right bank of the river and letting across the industrial towns of Barakaldo, Sestao and Portugalete. Once in Getxo, we reach the famous Transporter Bridge of Biscay, where we will stop for a short visit. We travel to pass through the imposing Castle of Butrón and Mungia. From here we head for the coast area and reach San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a beautiful chapel clinging to a rock and surrounded by the sea. We will continue along the coast with magnificent views up to the typical fishing village of Bermeo, where we will stop for a walking visit. Later, we turn next to Mundaka and we will be able to enjoy the beauty views of the Urdaibai Reserve of Biosphere. We follow the route and reach the famous town of Gernika and visit the Assembly House and the Tree. Return to hotel in Bilbao and free time for lunch. In the afternoon at 16.00h., we will start a City Tour of Bilbao. Lodging at the hotel.

DAY 3 SUNDAY: Breakfast. Depart at 09:00 h. to start a full day excursion. We will arrive to Biarritz and we will be able to enjoy the old port, the Virgin on the Rock and the streets. Following the rough coastal road we will continue to Saint Jean De Luz. A lovely small village located on the French Basque coast. Our next stop will be Hondarribia, a village full of history. Afterwards, we will do a transfer on a boat from Hendaya to Hondarribia (already in Gipuzkoa) across the Txingudi (natural reserve) bay. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we will arrive to San Sebastian, the most beautiful city in the Basque Country to start a panoramic tour into the city, with magnificent views up the mountain Igeldo, plus a walking tour into the old historical quarter. There will be free time. Finally we will return directly to arrive to Bilbao in the evening. Lodging at the hotel.

DAY 4 MONDAY: Breakfast. Departure at 09.00hrs for a full day excursion to the capital city of the Basque Country, Vitoria and to the Rioja wine area. We will start with a panoramic tour of the city of Vitoria and a short walking tour into the centre. Later, we follow the route towards the wine region and passing by Labastida, arrive finally to the medieval village of Laguardia. We will start a walking tour and visit a traditional Rioja winery with tasting of wines. Free time for lunch. By mid-afternoon return back to Bilbao. Lodging at the hotel.

DAY 5 TUESDAY: Breakfast. Pick up at the lobby of the Hotel  for the transfer to the airport.
