Bucharest was once home to the biggest and most prosperous Jewish community in Romania and their heritage can still be admired in what is left of the former Jewish Quarter of Bucharest and the wonderfully preserved Great Polish Synagogue, the Jewish State Theatre or the Choral Temple.
