Regular tours will only take you to a certain part of São Miguel island (either Furnas, Sete Cidades, Nordeste, etc.). This is different, you have a private car and guide for yourself. This way you will be able to get to must see sights in different parts of the island. If you didn´t have the time to read your guidebook, don´t want to rent a car, or have just one day to spend, but want see as much possible, you must let a local navigate the island for you. It is impossible to see all of it in the same day, and very tiring to drive yourself to different parts, through volcano mountains and curvy roads.
