Learn about Portugal’s wine regions and its history, while enjoying some of the country’s best wines, served with a traditional home-cooked meal in a local home.
Teresa will begin the experience with a brief introduction of herself, the history of wines in Portugal, as well as the country’s wine regions. Afterwards, you will be served four different wines (tasting portions) characteristic of the most iconic regions: two whites and two reds. Teresa will most likely feature a wine from the regions of Vinho Verde, Lisboa, Douro and Alentejo (also subject to season and availability).
After the interesting wine class continue your conversation over a simple and home-cooked three-course meal which includes an appetizer, main course and dessert. A few dishes that you might try are caldo verde (cabbage soup with chorizo), arroz de polvo (octopus rice) and pera bêbada ("drunk" pear in wine), served with a glass of wine. Your meal will end with a glass of sweet Port wine.
