Nowa Huta, often called "the younger sister of Krakow” is a district which started its construction in 1949 by the new communist authorities of the Polish People’s Republic. It is the true counterweight to Krakow city which is determined to be the cultural, religious and scientific centre of Poland, Nowa Huta, often called the symbol of socialism centre in Poland, is the only place in Krakow where you can really feel the soul of socialist era.
