Ghent, not as big as Antwerp and less touristy than Bruges. This cozy city is fairly close to the Dutch border and is therefore excellent for a day trip.
Go for a private group tour to Belgium (12 hrs!) with your own family or friends for max. 7 people. Pick up time depends on location, but would be 9 am from Amsterdam.
Upon arrival, around noon, set off on a 1.5 hr local guided walking tour and learn about the city and its radiant history. After the walking tour, you have free time to explore the city on your own. Visit Gravensteen, the only remaining castle in West Flanders with an almost intact defense system, or St Bavo’s Cathedral, noted for 'The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb', the most frequently stolen painting in the world which was featured in the movie ‘Monuments Men’. Sit down somewhere and enjoy culinary dishes, or go shopping.
After meeting again with your tour guide at 6 pm, we drive back to Amsterdam, where we arrive around 8.30 - 9 pm, depending on traffic.
